I have a 2002 W210 E220 CDi Estate.
I've recently noticed that the tailgate seems to open much slower than it used to and on occasions it can open and stick in mid air (A gentle push normally helps it to the top).
When I am also closing the tailgate it feels more effort is required to close it and sometimes it also sticks too in mid air and again a gentle push would help it to close properly.
The dealer (MB Macclesfield) about a week ago sprayed some lubrication on the gas struts to see if it would resolve it but is doesnt appear to have made any difference. I am not sure whether the struts are starting to seize and tighted up and I wonder whether any other W210 estate owners have any similar issues.
The dealer said he will be happy to replace the struts under warranty which runs out within the next couple of weeks and obviously I would want this to be sorted before it expires.
