W210-exterior mirror dipping

Evenin' all. I picked up the E55 today; this is likely to be the first of several questions. Cracking car, by the way; very pleased (I think...more later).

My question is, how do I stop the nearside exterior mirror from dipping down to show me the kerb when I select reverse? It's all very well, but I reverse in to my drive with a wall on the nearside, and I'd much rather see the wall than the side of the car-particularly since the reversing park assist sensors don't seem to be working properly...

Make sure the mirror adjust switch is set for the offside.

in the 'exterior' manual, its something like:-
set mirror to the position you want it to be when reversing (which can be the same as your driving), push green memory if you have mem seats, pull back on mirror switch for 5 secs, press green again
