W210 Facelift and Prefacelift Bonnets

I need to get my facelift bonnet painted but I still need to use the car. I have access to a prefacelift bonnet, but are they the same? As in can I safely shut the bonnet without it flying up!

If it's anything like a W204 then yes the same, however surely you'll need overspray onto the wings to match the paint so you'll be without the car for that part?

Im not that fussed with the colour match, its just the fact that the bonnet in question has had a reaction to something as just looks awful!

Part number different and not superseded so may not fit. I imagine it will hinge etc ok but not meet the bumper correctly

I think there are the same. Anyway, you will notice if there is any difference when you put in on the car.

It doesn't fit, due to the headlights ... 'facelift' is indeed a clue here.

Indeed! None of the breakers seem to have any W210's in this colour either! I also need a bootlid

There are some facelift ones on Ebay...buy one get it sprayed and you will then only have to swap bonnets once.

Trying my luck with the breakers first to see if they have the colour, would you recommend any with large stock?

Really not bothered about rust or anything as this car is literally used to commute to work in! But the current state of the bonnet needs to be sorted

Just got rid of my 2001 e320 to the Swansea Merc specialist for breaking. The car is silver but you would have been welcome to the bonnet if I had seen this before. He is taking the front wings off for me to be used as spares.

Im getting quoted around 150£ to paint it, trying my luck with some of the breakers!
