W210 Facelift VIN

Hi,

Is there a way to tell if a W210 is a facelift or not from just the chassis number?

Most of a time there is a range of vin`s that determine if its post- pre- face lift but you have diffrent body styles as well as engines so it might be different for every model of W210.

If you have specific one in mind pass it on and I might be able to check.
PS. After all you can tell by type of sterring wheel (controls on them) and indicators on mirrors insted of fenders. Those are main ways to identify models pre- and post-.

I can tell from seeing the car but when someone phones to offer me a w210, it would be very helpful for me to know it's a facelift without having to ask them or having to actually see the car before I buy it. If there was an obvious digit in the VIN that would make it easy but I guess I can always ask where are the side repeaters!

You know as vehicles before 98 will def be pre-face lift. After 2000 it will always be post face lift. From what I noiced:
A - pre
b - post
X - post
E - I think its pre

If you have some records of VIN`s - send them over and I will check it for you.

This site gives all the model numbers. You nbeed to know which ones are pre-and post. For instance 210.026 (210.226) is the E320cdi (and estate).
