w210 Filler cap wont fit and Ive tried a new one

I pressume theres something wrong with the neck of the filler pipe.

Every time I buy a new fuel filler cap It fits fine but then it wont remove unless a lot of force is used and then the cap is damaged.

where are all the 210 owners?
This one looks new to me.
maybe a bit of copper grease on the new one before fitting it might aid

At a guess the cap is going past the stop in the filler neck, so when you turn it back it's jammed.
Just have a good look and feel inside the filler neck for odd bits.

For now try to not turn it so far.

I cant use it properly and the neck flange(??) looks slightly bent ?

I have tried bending this back but it doesnt cure the problem

I cant put the cap on properly at all at the moment and that cant be safe.

it looks like the funnel 11 in the link has come too far forward, on mine it is sitting right inside

Its the funnel that has come out on yours and is the only replaceable part, in your picture that rusty but with the lever at the bottom should be further back inside the neck, that is the funnel.

Your tank is identical to mine and on mine you can see that the funnel is much further in, yours has almost come right out.

Nothing else is replacable, only this funnel 11 in the link above
