I am wondering if someone can help my new merc wing mirrors wont fold in they just ake a grinding sounds and twitch obviously this isnt right what do I need to do to sort them????

The mechanism can dry out and hopefully it just needs lubrication, if you give them a gentle push as they are trying to fold they will probably move in. I use white lithium grease as it seems to stay in place and has worked on mine for over a year.

Hi,
As above you should be able to fold them in manually, though if they are partially seize they may resist, they are quite stiff when they are not seized. Once folded back you should see the pivot points, and you will need to douse these liberally with release oil, once free use some three in one oil. Give it a few weeks of use then cover with a smear of grease. You can do each mirror in turn.

Will get the oil out tonight when I get home from work if it's not raining or snowing cheers

I think the passenger side might be broken as it won't even twitch just grinding sound. Drivers is now moving a little more after a soaking with wd40 all I had to hand. Both closed by hand without much pressure is this symton of them both being fudged?

Ok drivers mirror works fine opens and closes passenger mirror just make a weird grinding noise think is fubar and don't expect it to be a cheap fix any guides on how to take apart so I can see what's broken and try to repair

Fold it in then release the wire clip holding the casing on, slide the casing bacwards over the glass and frame.
The rest will then be obvious.

Hi,
Heres a link to Utube video how to remove the outer cover, though to be honest if any of the mechanism is broken it will irreparable, but there are plenty of second hand ones on E-bay for £40-60.
