Howto : W210 Front Door Card Removal - 1998 Pre Facelift

In my attempt to fix the creaks from my front passenger door in my W210, I've managed to remove the door card. It's for the pre facelift cars, so I'm not so sure for face lifted models. Here's the steps :

Open the door with enough room to maneuver.

There are four points of screw to be removed, circled in red:

1. Prise off the SRS airbag cover to reveal a screw underneath :

2. Prise off the door handle cover to reveal another screw :

3. Another screw is hidden behind the circular thingy :

4. Remove the cover near the lock.

With the cover off.

5. Also don’t forget to remove the puddle lights

Once all the screws have been removed, this is the tricky bit. You have to carefully pull the panel away for the door retainer clip to pop. You could use a long bladed screwdriver or a plastic wedge to pop the clip off. If you did damaged it you could get replacement from the stealer ( A 003 988 41 78 ) at about 15p+Vat each.

6. Remember to unhook the inner door handle.
