W210 Gear Lever Moving When Under Load

Hi,

I've noticed this weekend that if a pull away briskly in my E430, the gear lever moves quite a bit.

My thoughts are that its worn engine mounts (Currently on around 145k) does this sound right, or could it be something else?

Gearbos was removed for a rear main seal replacement about 4k ago, but I don't think it's related.

I guess that you are talking about a manual transmission in which case if the mountings are gone then you will get the symptoms you are experiencing. Short of changing the engine mounts I do not know how you would prove this?

No, it's auto. When in drive, if I move off rapidly, the lever moves forward.
