Recently I found out as there is small problem with my heater booster. I did some diggin and found there is old recall on old W210 made in late 1999. When I called Merc to find out how much it would cost to do it on my car I found it would be 249.00 pounds (+vat) for parts only and when I asked Merc i that could be sorted they said I had this outstanding recall on my car. :bannana::bannana:So I might have it done without any cost. :bannana:

Booked for wednesday. I hope this will solve my heating problems. :D

That made me think: Is there a list of all Merc recalls?

I am defo interested in this as my heater booste doesnt work, and nobody can figure out why!

Mercedes Star cant actuate the actual heating cycle, only test components (blower motor, glow plug etc)

Whats the recall for?

It gets relay with part of harness installed under heater unit. If I remeber right its for car between early 1999 and october 1999 or something like that.

There are two types. Re-calls and service measures.

Just ring the dealer with your chassis number to find out if there are any outstanding.

For E Classes built in whole of 2000. Mine doesn't work either...probably just as well. The problem could start an under bonnet fire!!

What was the "small problem" you had?

It looks like it might related to problem with termostat as I noticed recently as I couldnt get warm inside my car while using heater booster.

I had is scanned before and it dint show any faults but Im glad that was noticed at Merc so I have it done. Im kinda hoping while they do that recall they might noticed something (if there is anything wrong) that might be related to it and do it at the same time. Will know on wednesday afternoon. Will update here.

Well... finally had it done yesterday. In a mean time I had to drop it 3 times as somehow they where getting wrong part. Lucky for me its not that far from my work (walking distance) so it wasnt effecting me as much but at least I had my car valleted everytime my car was sent to garage (I love look of clean polished wheels :D) and it was nice to see 2 great looking, very helpful and nice girls at service desk :D. All in one.

All for free... :bannana::bannana:

The heater booster on my 2000\W E320 CDI doesnt work either. Could be a related issue, did they change the whole unit or just the relay?

Over the years Ive had a few E320CDI w210, and have never had a working heater.

I dont even know if it works or not. LOL. I tried with switch on or off and I cant really tell difference. I dont know what to expect. On other side I had it on STAR and it didnt show any faults. I seariously dont know. After all it was safety recall as I found models between mid 99 and end 99 (or something like that) came without additional shut off relay which could cause unit to create fire under bonnet.

I was kinda hoping they will check heater as well and make sure it works. But I dont even know what to expect from working unit. :wallbash::wallbash:

for the heater to work it is automatic the temp outside needs to be below 2 i think for it to work, so you must switch it on which is the red light off and wait for the temp outside to be below 2c then you will notice the diffrence. allthought i have not experenced this i only read about it in the owners manual :dk:

hi everyone... so this booster just makes the air hotter? because mine can take its time to get hot sometimes..

Its an electric heater, fitted as standard to facelifted w210 diesels.

As above its electric, directly connected to the alternator. The unit heats the water. But it is only on the diesels. At this time of year it can take up to ten miles to get up to temp. I would expect your car to get hot a lot quicker than that.
