I just bought 97' 300TD Estate W210. I know before I will drive it I have to fix couple small things. Can you guys help with ideas where to start looking for faults.

1. Heater motor/controls.
Is there a separate fuse for blower? Are they common to go? Or is it resistor that needs changing. Trouble is - it doesnt work at all. It does not start which ever possition is on.

2. Exhaust.
It sound as it have air leak. When accelarate you can hear hissing sound behind firewall. I know it aint a turbo as it looks alright and sound OK. I got loose 2nd clamp on exhaust pipes and I hope that is related.

On other note...
Does every estate come with floor for extra seats in a back? Mine got just simple covers and its cloth and I want to change it to 7 seat leather. :>

It may be the blower motor itself. There are a couple of graphite thingies (can't remember the proper name) that wear out at about 130,000 miles.

If you find full leather 7 seat donor car, it's a simple swap to install the rear most seats.

So I guess I really need to look at it. :dk:
