W210 key advice

My W210 key works fine but the plastic casing needs replacing. I do have a spare which opens the doors but does not turn in the ignition.

1. Can I change the casing with a newer chrome style or only plastic style?

2. Can I program/sync the spare key using STAR?

3. Can new/replacement keys be programmed via STAR or only via specialist equipment?

1 No....only a case matching the one you have.
2 No.
3 Not via STAR

I'll ask MB next time I'm there how much they want to bend over for

I'll ask RMK as well and see how much they charge....spare keys can be invaluable!

Meanwhile, I'll look for a replacement case
