Hi folks. Ive an X reg e320 cdi. Its lacking power a bit and if I put my foot down it smokes a bit. More so at higher speeds. Its done 203k and I think it needs a gearbox oil change. Any ideas on the smoking?? Thanks for any help

Gearbox oil and filter is recommended every 40k miles or so, get it done if it needs it.

The power could be a few things....does it stop revving at 3000 rpm? You can check all the inlet and turbo pipes for leaks, check the MAF by unplugging it and see if it is worse or better. Failing that, get it pluggind into STAR and get the injectors checked and see if there are any faults.

Cheers bob. I dont think the gearbox oil has been changed for a very long time. Previous owner never mentioned it being done. It revs fine tho. Just a bit flat

Hi

I had a similar problem on my 320 CDI E Class. the culprit was the air intake manifold motor. It seized up with ment the flaps on the manifold were effected.
