My W210 estate has quite harsh/hard rear suspension.

Whilst it was on the ramp for the MOT, I noticed what looked like a Citroen suspension sphere on the right hand side.

What is it for? Is it a suspension damper?
Is there any other reason why my suspension could be harsh/hard

Self levelling on all E class estates.
If it's harsh and bouncy then the spheres are worn out and require changing.

Thanks.
Is it as easy as Citroen spheres,ie. just un-screw and fit new?
Are there one or two?
How much are they?

Yes, but they are not as easy being on remote pipes instead of the rams. There are two and are about £100 each..

Thanks again Diesel man, are they the sort of things Euro car part would stock or is it a main agent item?
What about the fluid. There is no mention of what to use in my hand book?

The part number for the fluid is on the resevoir cap.

ECP and many motor factors can get these. They are Lemforder brand which is part of Sachs/Boge.

Forum member Jimmy might be able to help..

check the reservoir under bonnet front right corner see where it is filled to there should be 3 marks ....max ...unbleden...min... it should be just under the max mark ......don't ask what unbleden is ...that's if I spelt it right ....not a clue ....
