I've noticed the rear of my 01 W210 Avantgarde is significantly lower on the drivers side than the passenger side. Looking underneath I cant see any obvious fault the spring isnt broken and looks the same length as the opposite side. I dont want to buy new springs if its something else causing this does anyone have any ideas?

Almost certainly one of the springs has broken- such a common fault . Have you examined the springs with the car jacked up and the wheel removed. The springs can break right up inside the spring perch and can be difficult to see even for MOT testers

+1 ^

Olly was trying to show me the broken spring and I couldn't tell, till he got it out...

The shocks have gone? :dk:

Shocks wouldnt cause it to be lower they absorb bumps they dont hold the car up(Unless its fitted with hydralastic suspension).

Do ensure you are on an horizontal and flat piece of road.

It's not the shocks unless they're the self-levelling type (estate = S210).
If you have self-levelling or adaptive (ADS) then check with the engine running.

Probably spring. Good news, fairly easy and reasonably cheap.

Don't assume that because it is down at the back that the problem is at the back. Check all four springs.
