- E300DT-W210-1997-Elegance-Azurite Metalic Blue. (Don't mention the rust, LOL) Running on WVO. 65k m
I did mine yesterday.
Firstly thanks to Dieselman for his informative post -
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=52274&highlight=w210+gaitor.
I used this as a bases for my job.
He mentions at the end of his post - By having the wheels dangling it may be possible to do this job from above by turning the wheels so the column bolt is up wards instead of downwards but only if the gaiter can be retrieved and installed with the heatshield in place.
This got me a thinking, so I thought I'd try to do it with the car on all 4 wheels and bingo I did it, all be it a bit fiddly, I just had to bend the heat sheild out of the way, thin metal.
I will post a how to later on, with pictures.
Basically I followed Dieselmans advice, the changes I made was not to remove the heatsheild just bend it, also didn't jack up the car.
Good times
