Hi All

It doesn't seem to matter what I do I have a problem with my tyres losing pressure, its a 99 E300 TD with 16" alloys.

Are they prone to this, do I need a set of wheels

Phil

Alloys can become porous but usually pressure loss is due to corrosion at the rim due to damage that occurs during tyre changes, this prevents the tyre bead getting an airtight seal.

Your local tyre fitting company can clean the rims and may also add a coating of a sealant to prevent this, it is also worth checking the valves are not leaking.

I had this on my previous car, two tyres losing pressure over a couple of weeks. The tyres were removed, rims cleaned up, sealant applied to the rim and the problem went away :)

All, or most alloys become porous after a while. Only way to cure it 100% is a complete tyres off refurb.
