ok this car has a few warning messages and I wouldnt mind a bit of advice in to where i should be looking to get them sorted please bear in mind all i have done is puick it up and park it at a mates house until i can get my scenic sold.

the faults include
- EPC
- BAS
- ESP
- ABS (have read this and something else can't remeber what but could be the switch at the brake pedal)
- power steering fluid level low
- Speedtronic (I had speed liting working then stoped never could get cruise to go on)
- screen wash (take it you ned to fill both tanks for this to go away didnt take enough round today)
- bulb warning (reversing bulb any idea what type and how to get to it so i can get one in halfords)

i dont think this is too big a list to work through and some might be interconneted so should be sorted easily enough I hope

cheers in advance

BAS and ESP warnings are not unknown on cars that have been standing. If they're spurious, switching off and restarting will get rid of them (until the next time...), and on and on ad nauseam.

Firstly I would ensure that the battery is fully charged. Then maybe change the brake light switch........

Has the battery been disconnected whilst being stored? As the ESP ABS BAS lights will all be on if it has and will only clear once the steering has gone lock to lock a couple of times.
These light can also come on if the battery gets low, in fact I had a similar issue with my AMG the weekend, the battery only just started it and once started the warning lights stayed on I left it idling for 15-20 mins, then restarted and the warning lights extinguished ok.
If the battery is fully charged and you have completed a lock to lock on the steering wheel and the warning lights are still on, replace the brake light switch approx. £10 from MB and could solve your issues, if not you will need to get a diagnostics done at a good STAR equipped MB indy.

I've only had the car since yesterday so don't know if the battery has been disconnecsorts it
I've taken her for a good long blast after I got her you know what it's like new car must be dlooks like lol so batt should be well charged. Tried the lock to lock already today no joy

So looks like I'm off to the dealership for a brake switch then fingers crossed that sorts it

If the ABS, ESP speedtronic and can't remember which one, probably BAS stay lit after restarting the car, it could be the brake pedal travel sensor, I have had 2 go on different cars, my old S class and my current B

Now I know this might be chancing my arm but does anyone have the p/n for the brake switch and i can order it online via inchcape as I am not gona get to the dealer this side of christmas

cheers

W210

Check your front suspension spring cups NOW, mine just failed almost causing an accident, just my 2 pence worth, maybe help you not fall foul to my misfortune!

It's worth checking the earth by the rear lights. I had a towbar fitter do a bad job, and had an awful lot of similar warnings.

Don't think there is just one brake switch for the w210, best have a butchers or take the vin number to a dealer.

Interesting thread, My E220cdi (2009) has similar faults – EBV,ESP,ABS not functional also run flat indicator not functional coupled with the interior lights not coming on when entering the car. I took it to a Mercedes specialist who said it was either a pre fuse or wiring or the ABS unit itself. The Abs unit is running all the time unless I disconnect it- which I do. I can find the rear pre fuses but where on earth are the front pre fuses? I have looked under the passenger’s foot well and also the drivers-still can’t find it. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Have a look at the end of the dash where it's visible when the door opens. I've also seen Merc hide some under the bonnet....

This may be of help:

- Speedtronic (I had speed liting working then stoped never could get cruise to go on). Make sure the speed limiter is switched off. No cruise with it on.
- screen wash (take it you ned to fill both tanks for this to go away didnt take enough round today). Two tanks if you have headlight wash, mainly with HID headlights. Both need to be filled above the warning level.
- bulb warning (reversing bulb any idea what type and how to get to it so i can get one in halfords). These will show a warning if the bulbs are not on and if your's is anything like mine a bit of corrosion on the contacts will likely be the issue. Remove the tailgate trim (which is an exercise in itself) and this will give you access to the third fixing point for each of the lights. The other two being accessible externally of the trim. With a bit of fiddling about you'll probably get the reversing bulbs running again and from memory they are 12V/21W, nothing special. One in each side. Fog is in o/s only. I suggest having a helper available to get the trim on again as it's tricky doing it solo and getting the hanging points all aligned! Your arms will be very tired trying. There are loads of plastic rivets on the lower edge and 4 larger ones on the lower sides. On the centre release handle (if you have one) there's also a trim fixing screw that needs to be removed. Also remove and disconnect the light before you remove the trim panel.
