So my old man decided to take his 20s off of his SL500 and put on the 18 AMG turbine wheels he bought for it last year. The wheels really make the car look completely different, i love them on it.

but more importantly, we now have a set of 20's with plenty of rubber on (minus one wheel, which needs sorting out) in our shed... the temptation was just too much, so here's a quick test fit:

I was amazed at how well they fitted, 20x9 at the front and 20x11 at the back!

Just need to put some 8mm spacers on teh front to stop them resting against the control arms and then it will be driveable - as long as the old man doesn't mind me "borrowing" them indefinitely!

what do you guys think?

Needs to be lowered a little too to complete the "look"

It will drive very badly with the 20's on. You will probably hate it.

Would look good if they were clean....

Not keen on the 18" on the SL, appreciate it will drive better but never liked that style, think its the SL55 style on the early models?

yeah, it probably will, the SL was fine with them on, jsut a little harsh on the bumpy bits, but it will obviously not be as good on the E, but i'll have to judge when i get them all on, i only had those 2 on then. Just an idea, as im still tempted by going down the BBS route and putting some 18x8.5/9.5 CH's on.

Get stuffed grease monkey.....

Did you not train as a mechanic once Greg? On Land Rovers was it not? :dk:

Anyway back to the 20's

To look any good drop it an inch or two if you can. How about painting the centres the same colour as the car?

yeah i totally agree with you there, i only put them on now as they were lying around and i had a few minutes free at work! to get them on i need spacers at the front and new rear tyres anyway. plus i was going to fit lowering springs next month as im not a fan of tractor stance cars, unless im in the ML! i've lowered my last 3 cars and i now miss the bone shattering ride!

I would be interested to see how these look cleaned up and more importantly how the W210 handles with these on...!!!

Finally got all the bits i needed to get these wheels on (5mm spacers, 12mm bolts with 14mm seat, longer bolts, new tyres) so firstly i set out to give them a bloody good scrub:

then, after work on friday i put them on the car:

Im really happy with the outcome!

Ride-wise, there is little difference really, as ive not played with the suspension, it all feels very similar, but you definitely tell the wheels are bigger and wider!

There is a little bit of arch scrubbing where i had to space the wheels out a bit on bumpy roads (there's loads over here in the fens!) but im having soma arch work done very soon any way, so won't be a problem!

I think they work quite well, and they certainly seem to draw attention to the car a bit more when parked up in town! (i even got followed home Cambridgeshires finest on Friday night)

What do you all think?

Thanks mate, just need to get some body work done to the arches and front bumper over easter and i'll be a happy chappy!

I really like it, I dont think I'd even have tried 11x20's on a w210, but its looks great!

Yep...got to agree they look well. What are the et of the wheels?
