Hello All
First off, thanks for any advice that anyone is able to give on this subject. I am based in the UK and this is a RHD car showing miles. The mileage is on approximately 116k miles. The speed goes to 160mph and the rev counter goes to 5000 rpm max.
I have a 2004 W211 E270 CDI Avantgarde and the Instrument Cluster screens (main display and mileage reading) are faulty.
I have attached pictures showing the problem in-situ in the car and then pictures of the cluster removed complete with part numbers etc...
Essentially, one day I turned the car on as was confronted by the electronic mish mash display and pixelated situation as shown in the in-situ picture.
I have made enquires into places in the UK to repair this unit and it ranges from about £120-200, with no guarantee of being able to fix it in some instances.
I have also looked online about sourcing a 2nd hand cluster unit but obviously very cautious about the mileage etc. Some sites profess to be able to change the old for new whilst swapping the circuit board at the back (that contains the mileage reading). I am quite sceptical about this but would like to try and resolve this for as little cost as possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice that you may have.
