Hi

I've recently taken delivery of a e220 cdi on an 08 plate so this is my first post on this forum. Hopefully someone can help me.

I had a parrot mki9200 removed from my previous car and installed into my W211. The problem I have is that the sound is only coming out of the centre speaker and not from any of the others. My fitter thinks that I may have an amplifier or audio gateway in the boot but as far as i can make out the radio is a standard Audio 20 cd player and from these forums I am lead to believe that these have no amp in the boot. He used the required SOT-076 lead to connect everything up but as said it doesn't work fully. From another thread on here I have seen a PC000033AA cable mentioned. Does anyone know if this will do the trick.

Thanks

Hi

Can anyone help,in particular on whether an 08 w211 with an audio 20 will have an amp or audio gateway in the boot?

Thanks
Ian

Most likely you do not have an amplifier at the trunk. Audio 20 CD would have an integrated amplifier. I'm not sure if Sound System audio is available with Audio 20 CD, with that option there would be an amplifier at the trunk but hardly anyone wants an Audio 20 CD head unit with premium audio even if it was available.

Sounds like the after market kit would use the centre speaker only and mutes the radio and then other speakers. Easier to connect this way.

Thanks for this. The Parrot worked via all speakers in my Civic so i'd expect it to do the same with the w211. The fitter has ordered a different harness so we'll see if that solves the problem.

I think you need to work out what system you have before going further.

Is your Audio 20 the original one or the later one with bluetooth and colour screen?

Have you looked in the boot to see if you have an amp??

I didn't even realise cars without amps have a centre speaker?

If it were me I would just leave it as it is and not bother with the ipod/sd card side of things as it is such poor quality for music anyway.
I took mine out after a few days as the sound was so poor, it uses its own really cheap 8w amp.

The phone side of things works well enough though.

I don't have a colour screen so assuming my audio 20 is an original one. When i've looked in the compartment on the left of the boot all I see is the fuse box. Is the amp behind this? Do you need to remove the trim to see it?

Did you already find out if your car is equipped with a Sound System amplifier? Most likely your amp is at the head unit itself. I would do some easy paperwork before starting to remove panels from the car, saves often a lot of time.

hi my parrot is connected to my w211 e class 2005 but wont mute my radio or play through speakers any one help

i have been told i need to connect mute as all else is done but don,t know how to can anyone explain or show a diagram , i would be very grateful .The parrot kit is a mk9200
and i have the sot lead etc all connected up and it comes on with the ignition but wont mute radio or make sounds when i swith off the screen says goodby and i think this is supposed to.
thanks in advance

are you saying the kit makes no sound at all? it should doesn't matter if the mute is connected to get sound. Or do you just mean when you turn it off? It's not supposed to make sound when turned off, but should display goodbye. If not doing that then you have the permanent (red) and ignition (orange) wires the wrong way round, swap them at the kits fuse holders. What sot lead did you use, at the head unit or amp?

hi thanks/ i have the correct sot and now my parror mki 9200 mutes the radio and the parrot screen shows streaming music across the screen and connects to my phone but i have no sound as the parrot should speak through its menu and also it shows good by on screen when i remove the key . i tried sot lead sot 976 with this lead there were many connection so i bought MC8480 MusiConnect non SOT Parrot MKi9200: Merc Audio20 which appears to be a more straight forward way of doing things but as i say every thing works except i have no sound
although when the parrot is put in pause or stand by the radio comes back on as normal

What headunit do you have as AFAIK it will only work with Audio 20 cd in a W211 as all the other headunits have a audio gateway in the boot so no speaker wires on the Quadlock at the headunit end.

i am 99% sure its a 20 with 2 vertical and 1 smaller plug that works the volume from steering wheel

How are you playing music to test? Bluetooth streaming or iPod plugged in? Do you have spoken menus turned on? Do you have mute on streaming turned on? Do you get audio on phone calls? Are the speaker wires on the sot lead paired horizontally or vertically, and do the match on the car quad lock plug?

i am playing music through sd card /spoken menus turned on and mute on streaming is on / the phone connects and i can make calls from the phone book but no sound.
the wires are paired side by side on the sot lead / dont know much more about it unless my parrot box is faulty / when i switch through menus on the parrot i can hear a click in the blue parrot box is this ok
thank you for your assistance. ps my radio has sound and when i select the use of the parrot it mutes / i was frightened to change speaker wires round as i thought if there was sound from the radio the wires must be ok ,

Can you check the wiring on the car quad lock plug. Are the pairs in the same positions as the sot lead. Can you put a pic up of the sot plugged into the car

I had one of these kits for a few days, ripped it out in the end as I hated it.

Make sure it is set to speaker out and not line level, and make sure the volume is up on the Parrot too.

You 100% sure you don't have an amp in your car?

As said above, make sure there is actually speaker wires coming from your oem harness.

There is no option for that

Hmm, I thought there was.
What about the volume, you have got it up yeah??

And then....
