On my Dads W211 E240 (2004) the screens on the climate control (front only, not the rear) and the Audio 20 are extremley dim, almost invisible.

After an hour or so of driving, they become bright enough to be actually visible.

I was thinking it was the 2nd smaller battery causing an issue, but in the past that has displayed a message on the dash saying power was low etc, there are no errors at all.

The dash and the rear climate screens are not effected, any ideas?

They're affected by the windscreen light sensors so that if you were to enter a tunnel (for instance) the bright daylight display darkens automatically.

Just a thought but maybe there's a connection to that somewhere?

My screen brightness is affected by 3 things, the auto light sensor thing, so it dims when I enter a tunnel, the brightness setting in the menus, and the little knob behind the steering wheel for the instrument cluster.

Possibly the battery on the way out?

Thanks for suggestions, the battery is only a year old & the convenience battery normally warns when its low?

Will check them though + the light sensors
