Hey, I bought a car from germany recently and my automatic headlamp mode dosent work probebly, it turns off the lamp when its light outside and when its dark it turns on the light. I know that its forbidden to use your headlamp in germany when its light outside so I guess its programmed like that so my question is how do I change this?

This may be a dumb question....but why would you change settings from turn lights on when its dark and turn them off when its light........is that not the whole pint of auto??????????????:dk:

Well in Sweden you have to use your headlight when its light outside, so I want the automatic mode to be on both when its light and dark outside. Becouse most of the time I forgot to turn off the light and I want the lights to turn on and off automatic when I start the car and turn it off.

And I thought that the automatic mode was suppose to turn off your lights when your car is off and turn on the lights when your car is on. On the older Mercedes you had this beep sound when you dident switch off the lights, but on a w211 you dont have that beep sound, or atleast I dont have it.

Under "settings" on the dashboard screen theres headlight modes. Pretty sure theres an always on mode.

I did look thru the settings before but I dident see any kind of settings for the headlights, but I might have missed it, I'll check it again tomorrow. Thanks

Also, I have another annoying problem, sometimes when I unlock my car it turns on the fog lights, and when I have automatic mode on and turn off the engine and lock the car it turn on the fog lights so I have to unlock the car, start the car and switch the lamp on and off and then I can lock my car without the fog lights stays on.

Yes as previous post states, there's a setting in the instrument cluster that gives you the option you want.

Again, you need to change settings in your cluster. These are not 'problems' as you call them. They are features. The fog lights staying on after locking the car is so that you can find your way to your front door. They will go out after about 10 seconds or what ever the cluster is set to.
You can turn it off if you don't like it.

It was a problem for me becouse the fog light did never turn off.
But I'll check the settings tab in my cluster tomorrow, Thanks for the help! :thumb:

Sure its under lighting in settings. Unlock with lights on is a setting, it depends on ambiant (sun) light level

These are all explained in the manual, quite useful to spend some time with it.

Just leave them in the on position all the time and they will turn off when you turn the engine off and take the key out so your battery won't go flat

With light switch in on position they will not go out when you switch engine off.
