W211 Bilstein suspension upgrade...

Remember that extra tyre grip will impart on your fuel economy too - more grip, more rolling resistance.

... and more expensive tyres - considerably more.
And looking at the links posted, I'll look for a use set I think.....

Some might argue that its unethical of me to modify a car in such away that makes it less efficient, but I would argue they are a bit of a knobber....

But you are right, it would knock any welcome efficiency gains out of the window. And I now don't want a 19inch wheel. Looking at the car, 18 is big enough now its dropped down. Maybe something that was on Seans CLS and then painted black, every so slightyl wider but not by much.

I'll keep an eye out for used ones. ;)

CLS55 tyres are wider the E55, they are 255 front and 285 rear

a used set refurbed/painted would be more cost effective

you can always buy more fuel efficient tyres like the goodyear eagle f1 asymm 2

at the end of the day, there are very few things in life that you can make look cooler whilst being economical
you wouldnt see James Bond in an ASDA George suit wearing a timex would you?

Go the whole hog, enjoy, you only live once, be individual!

235 front and 265 back. Issue is does the CLS55 have wider arches than my car or would I be stuck with wheels that stuck out. Or would E55 wheels be safer as its a straight fit?

I have conti sport 3's up front and Ku39's at the back. To be honest I'd be tempted by the F1's all round having experienced them in another car. Awesome.

you could always have spacers if your worried about wrong sizes

You should be able to go with 255 & 275 Steve.

My waggon has staggered 8.5" & 9.5" 19" AMG's with 245 & 265 Supersports on.

The ET's are 35 all round and there is still room to go up a tyre size front & rear.

I'll post some pics up tomorrow for ya.

FYI The ride is great and not harsh at all although I'm running on H&R suspension which is less harsh than Billies for 19" rims.

As promised!

As you can see there is still plenty of room under the arches if you require wider tyres than the Supersports in the Pix.

:D

What shocks are you using with the H+R s .

Car looks great btw.

It's a full H & R Cup Kit with Shox and springs.

H&R Fahrwerkskomponenten

As mine is the Estate and has Self leveling Air suspension at the rear then you don't get rear springs.

Rear has to be lowered via Star Diag to compliment the front ride height.

Whole set up then needs taking to a Laser 4 wheel alignment specialist to sort out the cambers etc which WILL be a country mile out after dropping it even lower than a standard Sport set up.

Just need to get the calipers refurbed and painted as big spoke wheels show off a little too much if things aren't spot on behind the wheels!

Yes mine and *** are running the Eibach and Bilstein option. mine is an estate too and has been lowered by Star and aligned on the Hunter Hawkeye. What a difference the whole thing makes.

I am thinking of putting the staggered F14 forgestar wheels on my estate. Being 8.5 and 9.5 18" wheels will they fit my S211 estate without using any spacers. Also is it only star system that can alter the running height on the rear. Reading your post above the rear set up stays the same on self leveling suspension. What would I need to have the front end to have a sportier better handling set up, and at roughly what cost? Your car really looks well with the AMG wheels and the ride height gives it a much sharper stance.

I know this thread is 10 years old but still good to keep them alive😁
