W211 Cd Multichanger I Think I Have One

Anyone help me with this. recently bought a used e-class. service history shows that a cd changer was fitted last june. However I cannot get the centre console compartment which houses it to open. so as yet not even sure if I have one. Maybe there is a fuse for it somewhere? Any info would be great'' TJL

It should open irrespectively if you have a CD changer or not. Would you explain how you tried to open it?

Hi. Hand book says to push silver button on centre of console and cover should slide up but nothing at all happens when I do this. You know how it goes, in fruststion I try this every day but nothing!!

Just out of curiosity. did you buy the car of a dealer in bracknell? When I was doing my car hunt, I did come across one with exactly the same problem but somehow managed to open it up but there was nothing inside. Service book did mention something about a CDC but the dealer said it was not included and had a spare one in his garage that he could fit for £500 as opposed to 700 from MB. Prior to this I was very interested in the car but when I learned this, I walked out.

What happens when you press the CDC button on the radio panel?

Trying the CDC button could tell if there is a changer or not but even if there was no changer, the door should open like TJL explained.

I tried to see how the door is powered but couldn't conclude if it is powered by the CDC fuse. Did you check this fuse by the way?

It does open if there is no cd changer. so if its not opening, might be worth taking it back to the dealer to see if he can fix it. Maybe something is jammed.

bought from a dealer in northampton black on a 53 plate. So when I press cdc it says mag. empty if I then press buttons 1 to 6 on right hand side of radio it says no 1 no cd 2 no cd etc.I will try to check fuses now Thanks

Ok so you do have a CD Changer in there coz I get the message "NO CDC".

Just take it to the dealer and get them to open it. I am sure it will not be anything complicated but you do have a CD changer for sure.
