w211 Climate control module

Hi there

I bought off ebay a climate control module display for the avantgarde model, so that I could replace the classic module that I had in place. Everything worked but the display did not light up! Is there a difference in the wiring? Or does the car's diagnostics need to be told of the different module?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I maybe wrong, but I belive you need to get it activated at a stearlership in order to use it correctly.

Hi, not sure if it's the same with your car but if you go into the climate diagnosis menu (access is different for different models, on my 208 you set both temps to 22 and hold REST for more than 6 seconds, the left AUTO button scrolls through the readings), menu option 42/43 has variant coding values eg 128 and 41 the hardware status. Without your workshop manual I can't check what the values should be but someone with the same car could perhaps tell you what their reading are.
The fault memory can also be read by pressing buttons if someone knows the combination for your model.
