W211 Door Speaker swap

Guys,

Whilst I got my car in bits, just wondering if anyone has done a speaker/tweeter upgrade? Was thinking fitting components in the front, back also, flush mounting tweeters on the door, or using existing tweeter mount on the top of the door.

all do-able as you say, you may need to re-amp the components and use something like re-q 5 or bitone for the signal. the comps will be underpowered otherwise.

As I understood it the weak link in the equation is the amp, the standard speakers are reckoned to be very good just badly driven. There's a post on here discussing exactly that and some very good advice from gizze on kit that won't break the bank but yield dramatic improvements.

http://www.morelhifi.com/car-audio/maximo with a Pioneer powered sub in the passenger footwell instead of upgrading the amp. It's all had a few weeks to bed in and I am re-listening to all my favourite albums as the system is so sharp.
