As soon as I put either a DVD or CD into the slot above the sat nav, mine displays DVD or CD and then goes on to play.

Are you using a copied disc or an original?

In the slot above the head unit. The drive in the boot is for the navigation disc only.

As Post #3. It won't work while the car is in motion. It's illegal.

Does the DVD play whilst the car is stopped?
If it does, that is how is supposed to work.

As soon as you start moving, the DVD will stop
That is also how its supposed to work.

    What exactly is your problem?
Can you not play a DVD at all?

Are you using a burnt at home copy or an original shop bought DVD?

You'll need to give more information for anyone to help you.

Can't you borrow one to test it?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if trying to play a home burnt copy DVD is your problem.
You won't find out until you buy or borrow a proper one though.

This is like pulling teeth to find out what is going on.
One clear post explaining what the actual problem is and whether the car is stationary, moving, copied disc, original, would make things so much clearer.

If the OP wants to know why the car wont play a video in motion , I don't want to know.
    I give up:doh:

4Life211, you can not play a DVD while the car is moving. That is illegal.

If you can not play a home-burnt DVD at all, try a DVD bought from a shop, but the car must not be moving. If it STILL says "no disc", you probably have a fault.

If you think you have fixed it so your car will play a DVD while moving, you may have caused a fault yourself...

Actually you can play the dvd when moving, you just can't see the picture, audio will continue. Home made copies won't work if not on the correct dvd type either -R or +R, can't recall which one the Merc units need.

How did you enable the video in motion, there are plenty of posts about that on this forum.

You need to borrow a proper did and try it, bluray also won't work in Merc head units
