W211 E Class Comand NTG 2.5 How do i tell it is?

I have the opportunity to buy this but need to make sure its the NTG 2.5 version. How would I tell? It is full screen and has SD card slot at the top. Anything else I should check? Any help would be appreciated please. Thanks Dan

SD card slot is the give-away. But green and red phone pickup/hang-up buttons is also useful indicator (but not perfect, as USA comand units always had red/green).

You should make sure it is a Europe / Rest-of-world unit and not USA or one of the other special markets (Japan, China) units. (I think it should say ECE on the label)

You need to check the part number starts A211 or A219 (i.e E or CLS as they are the same) and that it has the SD card slot

Theres a load of different part numbers. Ask the seller to confirm it for E/CLS and is NTG2.5, then you can return it if its misdescribed !

Right well I've purchased this now. It has 30 day warranty and I can also return it in person if it's the wrong one. It came out of an E Class W211, I watched it working and watched them remove it. However I was assured it was an NTG 2.5 and it has SD card slot, red and green call buttons and 6 disc dvd changer. The part number though isn't what you quote.

and it says Model no BD0811
It is manufactured 13/11/2008

However, it came out of an E Class 2003 so I can only presume this has been retrofitted to this car before it was involved in the accident???

A169 is an A / B class unit. As Richard mentioned you need a unit with a part number starting A211 or A219. The units are model specific.

There are *plenty* of units out there made of the back end of one unit and the front-end of another by someone combing broken units into a working unit. Looking at the picture, it seems to have the front end of a W211, and according to the part number, it is the back end of a A/B/Vito unit. It has the DVD changer button on it, but again, there are units combined as described that have the DVD changer button and a single disk back end,

As long as it is coded properly, that won't be a problem. If not coded properly, the sound will be optimised for a A class and not a E class.

Get it fitted asap. £350 is good. You'll only know if it has the 6x DVD changer once its powered up and you can see

Yes trying to get it fitted but struggling on the cable conversion as i didn't realise it was so expensive. There is one on E-Bay that he's offered me for £169 delivered but I'm unsure.

However, I have contacted the salvage yard again (awaiting their reply) because this was fitted in a 2003 E Class so I am hoping that this must therefore have all the correct cabling to the rear??? Here's hoping....

What is in there at the moment. The harnesses are different depending on what you have, and whether you have phone or not.

Eek, yes you need the expensive loom as it has to run all the way to the AGW (where the speaker wires etc are) in the boot.

Don't forget you need the microphone and, bluetooth antenna. As you have Audio-50-APS you can plug the existing GPS antenna (blue fakra) into the new unit.

If you had an Audio-20-CD its much simpler :-(

CD Charder door

Does anyone know how it is possible to get CD charger door open when have upgrade NTG1 to NTG 2.5? How it could work with new 2008 w211? With module is different and do control for cd-charger door? I think there must be some way to made it work..

The door opening is controlled by the AGW, but there is no AGW any more. There is a vehicle-in-motion device out there that also enables that door to open/close (so you can put in the little plastic compartment and use it for storage) but it is about £200 from memory, and that has always seemed a lot for the benefit - given MY2009 E class there was no more door there

Thanks for the repply. I kow kabeldaviko have that module for 169€. If it wont open MY2009 then I understand it cant open anymore at all. I have take out door motor so now it is possible open door by pulling it by hands. I have also now aftermarket dbb-t under that door. That is good enought for me. THANKS.
