W211 E220 (2002) Power Steering Fluid Query

Hi

I've just checked the PS fluid level and noticed it's below the min levels. Time for a top up but there seems to be conflicting opinions about the correct type of fluid to use.
The fluid in the expansion / reservoir looks a dark reddish colour but this is the first time it's been looked at since I bought the car in 2004 !
Can anyone advise what would be the correct type of aftermarket fluid to use ? Main dealer say they have to order it in.

The car has done 138k. No PS fluid leaks evident currently.

Stick to 236.12 from Motul. Drain out the old fluid from the reservoir and return hose while the engine is running. It should take 3 Litre.

At 138K miles and 19 years do not top it up , replace it . Having said that if you can still see a colour in it it is unlikely to be as old as 19 years.

A full PS fluid replacement looks like the way to go. Due to time constraints, just for now, it's a top up.
