A friends car is not shifting at times and staying and holding the same gear sometimes, ignition on off cures it, told him to do a gearbox reset, any other known issues?

Get the codes read. Sounds like it needs a new electroplate/speed sensor.

Battery voltage or speed sensor in the box are the usual culprits. As above, get it read.
