Hi
In need of expert advice. I bought my w211 not long ago and noticed it had a reconditioned torque converter fitted. After a day or so buying car noticed gearbox wasnt smooth especially when cold so having read these post in this forum decided on fitting an aftermarket gearbox cooler and flushed out the oil and fitted new filter. Checked and checked oil level with mb dipstick.
The only way i can explain is when cold when you get to the end of a road and turn where the car should be in 1st gear its sticking in 2nd and with a slight push on accelerator will knock into 1st.
Also it sometimes not always but more when turning will jump into the next gear, so as im accelerating round a roundabout where it should move on in 2nd will jump into 3rd.
I dont know what else to do im thinking possible torque converter lock up solenoid, does this sound right. Please help me out. Its a 2003 w211 e320 cdi.
Regards Tiff

check your car isnt affected by the radiator issue on early 211's

it is supposed to hold onto gears to help it warm up faster.....

Hi
Ive bypassed radiator and added a cooler and done a complete flush if not an excessive flush.
Using latest spec oil as well.
