So I brought a new steering rack to fit, mechanic screwed up and kind of ruined the splines. Spoke to a rack specialist about remedying the issue but i need to take the rack and steering coupling to him. Tried googling but can't find anything, does anyone know how to disconnect the coupling please. Can it be done from under the car?

This is the part I'm talking about.

Very easily done with the airbox and dpf removed, makes replacing the rack a lot easier and I would insist is a must if you want to avoid slamming your rack around in an attempt to get it to fit and to avoid damaging splines. Note, the shaft of the rack and coupling are indexed by two lines etched on the female spline socket which line up with the first teeth on both sides of the blank portion of the shaft. Another thing to note is the shaft of the rack is longer than the socket so it won't go all the way in, there will be some splines exposed. If anyone is to do this job and needs advice give me a shout.
