I'm in the market for a E320CDI W211, post 2006 facelift version. In the engine department is there any concerns about the turbo longevity above 100K miles. With a FSH how long before a turbo should expect to need replacing?

I went to see a 103K car yesterday, drove very well, but under the engine cover there was some oil / dirt mix around the centre of the turbo shaft. Not wet oil, just that gritty black you get over time.

I have a w210 e220 cdi on just over 300k now and original turbo still sweet as a nut. I'm guessing that no two turbos are the same and some good some bad but I do have oil changed every 8k as well as air filter while I'm at it.

Regular oil changes shorter than recommended intervals also keeps the turbo in good nick aswell as your engine

My '06 W211 E280 CDI is on 160K now, without anything other than regular servicing.

I took a taxi recently-W211 270cdi, 07 plate and it had done........320,000!!!! Driver asked me to guess the mileage before he said what it was-I guessed at 120k going by condition.

i am encouraged by this thread, i am looking for 320cdi or 350cdi s class lwb for my next car. i was worried with reports of rust mercedes lost their way, but s class lwb meets our family needs so well with two big teenagers needing legroom behind me and i am tall too. my budget will only get me a 100k miles s class 350cdi but a less leggy 320cdi but older. is the newer 350cdi better?
