W211 E55 Airmatic problem - visit workshop!

Stratstone are a huge dealer group (including Merc franchises) and looking at their website they seem to think that customer care matters.

This link takes you to the page titled "Customer Concerns" - and gives you contacts/methods to escalate your complaint if not happy.

Customer Concern

Might be worth a try ..

As has been mentioned ask stratstone to sort all the problems(including the new one)or insist on a refund(i think their attitude might change then),good luck!

Complaint on its way up the chain. :)

They certainly didn't give me the impression that they cared very much about customer service once they had my money; the salesman disappeared to see another customer before we'd even finished the paperwork.

It's what I expect from car dealers though so it was no great shock. They spout all this crap about how different they are and how important each and every customer is but actions speak louder than words.

I had similar from another BIG chain, although all the problems were sorted it took a number of long distance visits (total of 6) and saleman just didnt want to know! in the end i dealt with the finance director who arranged all the nessesary remedial work.

That's interesting. I had better communication from the business manager (who was only brought into our conversation originally to try to sell me paint/wheel protection and finance) throughout the whole pre-sale process than either of the salesmen I've had to deal with.

I'll try him again.

lol, i wonder if its the same guy!

same reason i met this finance guy even though i didnt take any of his services he was the most poilte and freindliest out of the lot!

He was really polite and helpful even though I made it very clear from the first phone call that I wasn't go to buy any of the products or services he was trying to sell me. :)

It should lower itself over 87mph (140kph), not that we ever do that of course ;).

I run mine on S1 as I also find Comfort too soft and S2 too hard.

Ahem, yes, it's somewhere in and around that ball park that it starts to feel light possibly...

I've known of at least two salesman (BMW early noughties and Nissan turn of this year) who cared about after service as much as the lead up to a purchase - even though I never bought anything from the BMW salesman in the end (I bought a car from a dealer in Chiswick and took it there for some work).

But it made an impression though, eh John. That's good salesmanship - the experience stuck with you and despite not buying then, I'd hazard a guess that they'd be on your shopping list next time.

C, I bought mine from miles away and got into a very nesty wrangle with the dealer after collection. Sought advice, emailed the director about Sale of Goods Act or something similar, told him I would reject the car and.. and it worked. He paid my local MB dealer on his own credit card to do the main things I was after. I gave up on the little bits.

BUT... If yours is still ok, I wouldn't worry unduly. Get it Starred when you can, don't expect Corsa running costs, and.. get that speedo replaced with the 200mph one!! As I can testify, thanks to JohnnE, (:)), you may appreciate it one day somewhere..

Yeah you're right - it has stuck with me. It's unlikely I would ever buy another BMW but I would certainly make a beeline for that salesman if I did - albeit they are based in Bucks and I'm not anymore...

Certainly happy to buy another car from the Nissan man!

I never even knew the speedo was different until SavMan told me at Vmax...

160mph is definitely no good!

:bannana:

The fault is most likley with the pump , as the pump ages it looses it power and takes longer to refill the air reseviour . This will cause the car to show this error message . The message will pop up every few days . Mine is doing this and after reading the codes and doing some pressure tests ive isolated it to the pump . This will be the secnd pump ive fitted in 2 years .

Thanks shorty.

If it's failing rather than failed that would explain why the message didn't come up until about 70 miles after I'd adjusted the suspension level.

Started the car this morning; the error message has cleared itself and it didn't come back. The four corners are all the same height and I can change the suspension level manually without any worrying noises from the pump.

I'll reserve judgement for now as it's only done a very short journey but it's an encouraging start. :)

I'm at work (the reason I had to drive the car today) and the car's filthy (I'm not one for keeping my motors clean) but if you still want pictures then I'll see what I can do. :)

If you have a dirty e55 then you're in trouble.

:D

Then perhaps I shouldn't bother posting pictures.

As I said I'm really not one for keeping the outside of my cars clean and the last time I drove it (round trip to Heathrow) it was hacking down with rain so it's particularly grubby at the moment.

It is starting to sound like what I had - and probably yours was stood around for a while before they flogged it to you. These cars are hard as nails when it comes to proper driving but treat them with kid gloves or ignore them and they seem to become quite sensitive...

It took my a long time to wash mine and polish it and then post up the pictures on here (6 months). I can't say washing cars is my most favourite use of time...
