w211 e55 amg mirror bulb and plate error

Hello , first i would like to have big "HI" to all mercedes users.i have problem with my e55 amg 04 i getting malfunction on dash about turn bulb light right mirror mulfunction and rear right plate bulb.both bulbs looks/working.i had before i had e270 03 and i had problem with broken wires in trunk but i get 3 mulfunction about back light ,stop light and was no power to trunk.any one any advices where to start.licence plate bulbs looks like somebody change before because they are brighter then normal.just want to add ,sometimes after switching off ingnition all malfunction disapear ....regards

I also had a E55K and had the same symptoms and messages as your E270. It was breaks in the wires in the left boot arm, very easy to get to and a simple fix with a soldering iron. That involved the number plate light.

As for the turn lights these were not effected by the break in boot wires which would suggest to me it is not linked to the same problem.

There are several posts on this and other Mercedes Forums about folding mirrors and repeaters not working and these uncover breaks in wires in the folding mechanism.

I will check for a break wire covers when I gone have some free time .is only annoying error on dash because bulbs work at least now

Try going into the Convenience settings in COMAND and disabling the folding mirror option. I did that the the message went away. Mirrors don't fold any more though....

is that licence bulb can make a error if is after market led ?

Just replace with an OEM one from the dealer.

Only one weird think is sometimes is a error and bulb is ok and sometimes error and not working

both could be wire breaks, mirror wire can also break from constant folding

8 wires in mirror are no in best condition....licence plate light working on it

The warnings usually appear a week or 2 before the bulb actually dies.

Just because the lights are working does not always mean they are not fault free.

Replace the bulbs with quality items of the correct type and the errors should go, or clean the bulb contacts if you still get errors after the bulb changes.

That's my next step I have new set of bulbs already and I will clean contact thanks for advices...

Mirror almost sure is a wires breaks ...

You don't need to fold them every time and you have the manual overide for when you do. Just test them every month or so as I find they can get a bit sticky otherwise.

God how stupid am I? After disabling them in COMAND a couple of years ago I've occassionally parked up on a narrow street with fast-moving traffic and thought "I wish I could fold those mirrors. Shame I disabled them."

Doh. Forgot about the switch.

I've had the car so long I've forgotten things I originally knew about it......
