I am getting the car checked at a specialist soon for this. But just checking if anyone else may have an idea or encountered this too before.

The Front Rights wheel area, I was topping up the air in the tyre and smelt the sweet coolant smell. Im not 100%, but isn't the IC pump around this area or other hoses etc? The temperatures in the cluster go as high as 100c in traffic but when cruising around its between 80c to 90c.

Hi
You are quite correct RH side front is where the IC Pump is located, additionally there is a coolant circulating pump behind the RH Headlight (there is on a CLS55 E class should be the same) that is known to leak and its feasible it could be leaking and running down to the same area.
I am just about to order a new one for my CLS, as it keeps kicking up a fault code.

Ah ok, what fault code is it throwing at you? Do you happen to the parts number for this one to hand? Just to get a better picture as to what this pump looks like Andy.

Hi
I keep getting fault code 9020 = "Component M13 (Heating Water Circulation Pump) has a short circuit or open circuit or Excess temperature. (If fault code occurs with no compliant reported and no malfunctions, erase fault memory and perform check)".
The part number for the pump in my case (should be same as E55) is A 211 835 02 64.
It is the same one in the link below
