Just changed my filters for ITG's and the old ones are in a hell of a state! just wondering if air filters are a normal part of a service as Im having my doubts about how well the car was serviced last only 6000 or so miles ago?!

Any thoughts guys??

They're considered a mileage/age related additional item on the C32 - I would imagine yours would be the same.

It's got a 5.5 litre engine. And a supercharger. A lot of air goes through that filter. Looks OK to me.

not standard change item, oil and oil filter are, thats it!

Thats prob a fair point!!...wont have to worry about them for a while now just clean them every once in a while :thumb:

Filters in other brands are often changed annually, and so would probably look cleaner than a long-life item like in your AMG.

I had a moan about this. Specified air filter change was at 4 years or 60,000 miles which, IMHO, is bonkers.

I agree, its not just how dirty they was its the amount of dirt and leafs etc etc that fell out them aswell!

MB hardly change anything as standard on their services.. I can never understand it... long life filters sound like things just to please accountants and lease companies to me..

On a B service we change Fuel, Air, Oil & Pollen filters.

The time to worry is when you check your ITG after the same mileage and it's not as dirty...

Well the dirty state does not worry me to be honest... as it depends on where you live... how often you drive etc etc. I do change mine every second service if not at every service... (they do not cost much anyway) but yours seem quite badly installed as well. They seem pushed and abused to my opinion!

Changed both our cars air filters recently both had done approx 10k and were about 16/8 mths old and tbh if i didnt have the new ones in my hand they would have easily done another year or two.
Yours look badly fitted as said.
