Hi all!

So it’s Friday night and I’m sat here thinking about the amazingly trouble free 6k miles my 2004 E55 has done under my ownership, which is a year last weekend!❤️

But, after it doing all the tasks I’ve given it with ease, it’s finally gained a small issue which is bugging the sh*t out of me.

My symptoms are as follows:
In P, I have a slight shudder between 1500-1800 RPM. It’s a shudder which is comparable to a wheel balancing issues In terms of what it ‘feels’ like. You can feel it holding the steering wheel. But obviously it does it when parked up. If I let it idle, it’s smooth, when I apply part throttle to the above rpm, it shudders/shakes but, if I take above 2k, it’s as smooth as you like.

Now here is what throws me off even more... it drives fine, gear changes are smooth, engine runs smooth with all the power it’s always had, no noises or squeals but, it does seem to get better when it warms up/after a mile or so. It’s still there but then I swear it moves down to 1200-1500rpm. I’m stumped. I don’t know if it’s my brain being too fussy but I know something is up and can’t seem to get to the bottom of it.

I’ve checked what I can visually and had it scanned, which showed no fault codes to rule out an obvious misfire. It’s been on the ramps to check for anything obvious but visually, it all looks fine. Being something that happens at idle, I can’t think to what would cause it.

It’s had in the last 10k:
All 16 Mercedes OE Plugs
Gearbox mount
NS engine mount
Engine and oil filter
Gearbox and oil filter
All genuine mercedes parts done at for dealer.

I was thinking to do the last engine mount (offside) and maybe leads myself? But, I don’t want to throw good money at an issue to just guess.

I’m new to the AMG fold to still learning but pretty hands on so happy to get stuck in.

Thanks in advance for any help as I’m a fellow mercedes owner in need! :)

Vick

What year is the car?

If no codes are thrown up... then possibly the other mount.

I would have changed both. It's like suspension components, best to replace in pairs.

Mine used to sometimes exhibit similar behaviour. Was caused by the open/closed loop where it is running lean before the supercharger clutch engages and all hell breaks loose. It is a common E55K trait.

E55 W211 stuttering at low revs

So I’ve been out today and tested it thoroughly...

The vibration happens every time between 1200 and 1800 rpm on cold, in P.

Re the super charger, does it engage when not in drive?
