W211 (E55K) front bumper chrome insert replacement?

Hi All,

Today a nice stone hit my front driver side bumper (W211 E55k AMG) and chipped the chrome insert, i have viewed on ebay that i can buy the insert and wondered how difficult it is to remove damaged part and re-fit new one....thinking of buying part from ebay but am curious as i am not sure if you can buy direct from MB

The item does not fit AMG variants for some reason....as usual comments most welcome...

This is pre-facelift? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Merc dont sell the chrome insert separately, it comes complete with the wrap-around insert. If you order the part ready painted they come fitted together. You can also order it unpainted in which case the chrome part is in a separate bag for fitting after the paint. But you still cant get it on it's own. It's German madness at it's worst. However...it is what it is.

Been there, argued that, been defeated by the bureaucracy.

If you manage to get one it is held in by numerous little plastic tags on the outside edge of the chrome.

Thanks for info...yes mine is pre-facelift (early 2004)

You can get the strip from Ebay for w211 but it states does not fit amg models....i have emailed the seller to ask if knows where i can source...will let you know.
