Apart from eBay, Autotrader and Pistonheads are there any other places that I might find E55s for sale online?

Just making sure that I'm not missing a trick. :)

Thanks. :thumb:

I suppose I was asking for that...

I meant other forums or reliable sites rather than just being told to use Google.

It may be worth emailing all Mercedes dealers and requesting to know if/when they get an E55 as a part exchange.

What has put you off of those that are for sale in the usual places?

Do dealers even take E55s in PX? I searched the Mercedes used car list this morning and the furthest they went back was a 2006 E63.

Nothing. I've enquired about all of the suitable ones and I'm waiting to see how things develop but in the meantime I wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing any other sources that I don't already know about. :)

Dealers will take E55 as PX but as time goes by it will become even less common. It would be very unusual for them to actually retail it though - too old for most dealers. They'll usually put it out for their known traders in the area to bid on, or offer even less to the current owner to put them off, and/or cover their backs if they send it to auction.

Dependant on your budget, there will be a greater likelihood of W211 E63s coming in as part exchanges, but they WILL get E55s as well and they'll be more keen to sell it to you than a trader for obvious reasons like price etc.

Have you looked at the traditional auction houses; Mannheim, BCA etc?

Was not Paul thinking of selling his one?

Good idea to try the forums - you may get one that's enthusiast maintained, with some provenance.

There's a wanted section on most.

Here and MBOF would be the places to start.

true .. MB dealer in the North offered £14k trade in for my CLS55 against a C63 Black Series.

I think DVB247 is selling his but is not standard (might be an insurance issue) and might be out of budget anyway...

In the last year - I think I've seen two E55s for sale on the AUC website (not that I look religiously!).

I'm not confident buying from an auction house. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Just registered on MBOF. :thumb:

Yes, I saw his. Out of budget and I want a standard car (at least to begin with).

I bet that old couple had a fright. :D

They`re lucky he waited a bit for them to pass, what kind of cheese was that comes to mind lol

There's an E55 for sale here you might like... damn cheap too:

EDIT: and i just read that you're looking for a W211... oh well i'll keep the link here anyway :)
Thanks but yes, I've got my heart set on a 'charged E55.

You need to up your budget to £13,000 for a good one, with full MB history.......;)
I like the look of this one but it's been up for almost a month which seems a bit suspect at this price... £11,295.

It's not too far off to be honest.

It's a 2003/52, but it has a fair few options and the mileage is good for that age (9 years old - should be on 90,000 really).

If you can get it for £9,500 / £10,000 you are probably on the money for that one (assuming it is mint and everything is working).

I would agree with BQF though - really stretch your budget for the best one you can get. For not much more, you are knocking on the door of 2004/54 plates.
