W211 electrical problems with gearchange and lighting

I own a W211 320CDi which has developed a series of electrical faults. I am looking for a trustworthy garage near north London to deal with the issue...

It's a pre-facelift 211!

engine not reving above 3000 and high/low voltage issues shown on non STAR system...

Well that's definitely limp mode apart from that, can't help!

Have the batterys checked . The main one in the boot and back-up battery under the bonnet

Gave in and took it to an independent MB shop. Put it on the STAR system and came up with a fault on part M55. This is a motor to open and close air shutters on the engine (as you can tell I am not very technical). Electrical problems have gone for now.. seams like I have an intermittent issue with the gearbox

Cost to replace the motor and two gaskets is north of £550. Apparently as my car is a V6 not the straight six... said it was 5hrs of work... Any comments appreciated...
