When at the PCS GTG, i noticed that Ricky_S had some extra covers under his engine bay which stopped rainwater getting onto the fuse box, so thanks to Ricky for some initial pointer part numbers i got my local parts guy on the case.

And with the fuse's keeping them company is the ECU! Thanks Alps your a star.

Alps,

Your mota really is the dogs bits mate... Is there any option it doesn't have now?

Thanks mate

its turning into a bit of an addiction.. ;) theres more bits in the pipeline.. keep watching lol

They look very well. Honest question, does the rubber seal round the engine bay not afford adequate protection? Your engine and bay look spotless, as does mine, not a sign of water ingress.

Alps how much are all the bits?, being flimsy plastic i wouldn't expect a great deal!

Great mod. What needs to be done to fix these covers.

Mine also has them as standard. Fitting is obvious: put them in place and use the fasteners where the body and panel holes coincide.

I had an interesting additional problem in my car when I bought it — the scuttle drain pipe had been cut, and water from the windscreen scuttle drain basically ran directly onto the ECU:

Fixed now: thread on the other side.

I think they became a standard fit when the pseudo-facelift cars came out in mid 2005 - when the V6 CDI was introduced. My I6, and every other I6 I have seen, does not have them.

I don't think there should be any problem with it though - the box containing the ECU/SAM/fuses/etc is a lock-down gasket-sealed job anyway! The additional panelling is purely aesthetic I believe.

But I suppose you can't be too careful.
