This is a strange one. It normally happens after I have accelerated harder than normal and it usually happens if ive not long started car up so not warm (although I still have thermostat problem that needs changing) but the car will accellerate ok then just seems to lose power. It goes dog slow, still smooth but won't freely rev and takes ages to set off and build up speed. No warning lights on dash either :-/.

Needs code reading on STAR Diag.

Common faults on these are pressure boost sensor or Turbo faults

Mine does the same occasionally too. Been on STAR a number of times but nothing recorded. It seems to rectify itself if I turn the engine off and restart. It isn't too much of a problm unless you're on a busy motorway, in which case its a bit of a nightmare. Still a mystery to me and local dealer!

There was an Urgent Safety Recall on this issue or similar around November 2008, the recall code is P117. "Engine may lose power". Apparently the crankshaft sensor could fail electrically and has to be replaced.

Had the exact same symptoms. Turbo valve linkage lubricated, improved for a while and then the problem returned. My garage chap flushed the exhaust system and the problem is now resolved.
