I have this case to myself.I have E270 cdi 2003, and my SBC failed .Fortunately I was in low speed 10 mil/h and I stoped it with hand brakes.I take it to service shop with hand brakes. But what can happend if you are in highway and SBC failed ????Where is the safety of merc ???

Are you saying it failed without any prior warnings?

You should have had it recovered.

If SBC fails you should have a small amount of braking capability through the pedal. If the pedal doesn't work at all then that implies something worse has happened.

If you only had the handbrake then you should never never never have driven it in that condition after getting it stopped in a place of safety.

Even with the SBC failed but some pedal operation I think you would be best advised to get the car recovered rather tha drive it.

A message such as 'STOP the car' is a severe and explicit warning that the car should not be driven.
