Hi, I am new to the forum and have so far gained a lot of knowledge from your excellent community and hope to share my experience and knowledge with issues and repairs.
I am having an issue with the retractable boot cover of my 2004 E270 estate.
When I open the tailgate, the cover retracts correctly going all the way to the roof and then stopping. However when the boot is closed, the cover goes back but when it gets to the bottom the motor continues and makes a large crunching noise from the motor gear slipping past the rail Spring.
I have also noticed that even when the cover is not in place it retracts anyway and so I'm guessing it has to do with cover sensor but can't find an issue
If someone happens to of had experience with this problem or has a wiring diagram or even perhaps has a spare rail with sensor they would be willing to sell that would be fantastic
