Hi - this sounds trivial: the luggage cover doesn't budge when I open the boot. No idea why - there must be a switch that activates it. Any ideas gratefully received. I don't mind doing it manually but I'd got quite used to it doing it itself!
Thanks
Ash

I had the same problem and there is no switch and there wasn't a fuse problem.
Had to get the mechanical internals replaced under warranty:(
The car was less than a year old at the time.

The two moving clips in the racks on either side of the back pillar 'know' when the load cover is in place. I.e. you will have noticed that the motors do not run when the load cover is retracted into the seat back. My suggestion would be to retract the cover and operate the tailgate, and then replace the cover and try it again. You never know - it may 'reset' the problem.

Mine did the same a while ago on a couple of occasions, but the problem went away effectively on its own and hasn't happened again.

Good luck!

Thanks both: I've been trying what Corned suggests but it hasn't 'woken up' yet...

regards
Ash

same problem here. I will be getting it fixed in about two months so I will update then.

It seems that this is a fairly common problem - mine stopped working and was fixed under warranty. The dealer told me that it was the plastic gearbox that had failed. The clue is that you can (just) hear the motor try to run when it should, yet nothing moves.

hi guys just sorted out my load cover took off the left hand side cover and sound proofing and found the two black wires uncliped the connection and re-connected the plug and it worked the only thing i now is that the car has had a new battery when i picked the car up about 8 weeks ago so maybe its reset itself

Thanks for posting pics - always useful. Unfortunately I could not work out the first pic as it was blurred and the second pic, which was very clear, was not labelled so I could not work out which wire you had disconnected/connected. Could you repost the second pic with an arrow or pointer showing which connector you mean please.

Cheers

On a car this expensive it is definitely not rivial when something doesn't work - if you are like me it will drive you mad as you expect better!

Mine is being replaced under warranty tomorrow. The motor is noisy and the tech says it will fail if not replaced.

It's a day's work at a main dealer due to the headlining/trim having to be removed/refitted (apparently).

Hi working on my mec
Sorry took them with my I phone
when you take off the first aid cover you will see three sliver torx bolts which hold the sound proofing on take these off
When your done this at the left side / bottom of the side window you will see two shiny black thin cables going into a flap of black fabric, unpeeled this from the top and you will find the plug connection, I disconnected the plug for a few min and the reconnect it put the cover into the runner and closed the tailgate, when I opened it it was working
Regards john

How did you get on at MB? Did they tell you how much it would have cost if you had to pay for it yourself? Cheers

I'm afraid it's been postponed to 28th July.

If I remember I'll get an estimate for you.

Thanks all the quickest fix ever, undid the three bolts, disconected the wire for 30 seconds. Put the lid in place, locked the car. Unlocked and lifted the boot. All sorted. Thank you!

I had mined tested and diagnosed as the motor needing replacing nearly four years ago. As it had never worked, and it being an expensive job, I left it. Last year, the battery went flat, so I jump started the car, and it's worked ever since.

I had the same issue with mine. After around 4 months of having the car I noticed that the blind would intermittently not go up, and by month 5 it's completely stopped. :(

Tried the method above hoping for it to work, but no luck.
