W211 Estate rear wiper

Hello All,

Read all the posts on the various reasons why it might not be working and hoped for the simple motor seized.

Stripped it all back, all looks fine - and when I went to test it I noticed the button doesn't illuminate, but the fuse (no 7 in boot) is fine.

Would this point to more likely rear hatch wiring? As far as I can see the wiper motor has 3 wires, which when followed back go into the black box of wires in the tailgate.

So my question is, the button - should it illuminate when pressed? All other tailgate electrics work fine.

Bump, was out in the car today and noticed that for every 10-15 presses of the button the red light will come on for less than a second and go off. Keen to hear if anyone has experienced similar (and if the light should stay on when its working properly).

On my s211 i believe the button stays lit when pressed
