Interested in converting my pre facelift (2004) w211 to 2007- facelift sport, anyone on forum had this done or know someone who has,saw white e320 on auto trader with this conversion,he got the parts on ebay. Was looking to buy a facelift sport without realising this conversion could be done.Awaiting pricing from local mb dealer regards parts pricing.Any advice would be appreciated

Mmm, I suspect the parts from a dealer may make it expensive unless you have super deep pockets. Maybe try a few Mercedes specialist breakers?

I very much doubt it was a proper conversion... Going to be expensive, prob worth selling your existing car & purchasing facelift instead.

For the facelift you would need:

2x Wings
1x Bonnet
1x Grill
2x Headlights
2x Fog lights?
1x Bumper
1x New slam panel (I maybe wrong)
2x new wing mirrors
2x tail lights
1x bootlid

No doubt theres more, its not really cost effective. Althought that could be said for my C43 conversion, depends if you want to class it as a hobby or not :D :)

Personally I'm not that bothered - though I like the facelift it's subtle enough not to be one to worry about. If I every have to replace the bootlid I'll get a facelift one though - as I like the wider chrome bar, and it's a straight swap.

Have replaced the centre brakelight, it's a straight swap as well.

The bootlid, bonnet and wings are the same?

Just had another look, I always thought the wings had been changed with the new front... guess im wrong.

The bootlid has a longer chrome bar. could you could secure that onto a pre-facelift, id imagine the rest is ever so slightly different in order to attach it?

That bottom half is just a plastic panel, and those come in colour from MB, so a pretty easy mod for W211 owners.

To be honest I prefer the look of the older model, the big grille looks a bit grafted on...

I have the 2004 model Elegance and I do like the new twin pipe rear end on the new Avangarde model. Had a quick look at one in the car park and looks like the complete rear bumper needs to be replaced and new back boxes fitted. Would assume the parking sensors would swap over.

Anyone seen this done?

Parktronic is a pain to change, as the new and old sensors are different and are not a straight swap, any of the ones we changed over we swapped the parktronic mounts from the old bumper and bonded them in place of the mounts on the new bumper so the old sensors and wiring could be retained.

Generally speaking nobody will notice the pre-facelift head or tail lights so its not worth the expense of changing them.

Ive looked into this , but doing a E63 front conversion on an E55. fairly easy

bumper parts as above, new grill, parking sensors are a little tricky and need to be glued on, thats it!

front lights you cant do, rear deck as nick says is fairly easy, rear lights are straight swap!

I prefer the pre-facelift myself, I know that's easy to say as that's what I own, but I do. I do however prefer the mirrors on post-facelift. I hate the extended chrome strip on the bootlid personally.

What's different about the centre brake-light?

Centre brake light on pre-facelift has no lamp in the very middle, so it's like ---- ---- with a star in the middle. And they seem to fail a lot. Facelift is evenly spaced with fewer, brighter LEDs , more - - - - - -, and I'm yet to see a duff one. Mine lost loads of elements so I changed it for a facelift one, I like the longer bar on the bootlid so that's a temptation too but I'm not a fan of the new front.

Id like the face-lift mirrors but have yet to see this be done, ALL the "facelift conversions" ive seen dont bother?!

The face lift mirrors bolt on through different hole , these holes would not be on most pre face lift cars . The holes can be drilled into early doors , i have done htis a few times .

personally , the mirrors is the thing i like least on the facelift lol.

In an idle moment I looked into the parts needed to convert my E320 Elegance 2004 to the Avantgarde twin exhaust style.

While the rear bumper and parking sensors etc seem straight forward enough the stopping point for me is the exhausts. My engine is the straight 6 version, the twin pipes were fitted to the V6 style engine and the exhaust system I'm told by MB is different and not as I was expecting a simple job of replacing the rear back boxes. :(

If thats the case, buy the tips from german ebay and get it custom made.... it`ll be cheaper than from MB!

Eh? I don't believe they totally changed the exhaust system between the I6 and the V6 engines? I think it is a back box job.
