I had a strange one-off incident yesterday in my W211 E55, I was travelling around a left hand 90 deg bend at speed (on a private road - literally) front & rear of car moving a bit & ESP light on, then I backed off a little, then back on the throttle & the car behaved like it was in neutral. It revved round to 4000rpm but no further forward motion (it was coasting at this point).

Looked at the dash - it was in D. Knocked the gear selector to the right & off it went as if nothing had happened.

Very strange, anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Andy

Andy.

I would be getting the gearbox fluid level checked ASAP. The cornering forces may have caused the oil, (if the level is low) to surge to one side and let the 'box momentarily lose hydraulic pressure? Worth having it checked for peace of mind

A lot of the MB auto boxes suffer leaks from the pilot bush, it is usually a small and gradual leak that is not always noticeable as a staining on driveways etc when parked.

Hi - thanks for the reply. That would make sense. Will get the level checked.
