I have electrically operated wing mirrors. The one on the driver's side of the car (continental EU) is broken such that when I unfold it, it doesn't stop at it's previous position but unfolds all the way. At a speed of 50km/h there is a feature that "hardens" the mirrors and when this happens, the mirror unfolds completely so I have to open the window and get it back in position. Sometimes when I fold the mirror I can hear the mechanism working even after the mirror has closed completely.
The previous owner told me he found the car with the mirror unfolded all the way on a parking space, i.e. someone broke it either on purpose or by accident. Is there a way to fix this or should I just replace the mirror? AFAIK, the mirror mechanism can't be opened unless if you've replaced it with a genuine mechanism from Mercedes which is then serviceable.
